The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) referred to a statement by the WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus that some 12,000 children under five in Gaza are suffering from acute malnutrition and said it should lead to concrete action against Israel’s campaign of forced starvation.
“In July, nearly 12,000 children under five years were identified as having acute malnutrition in Gaza, the highest monthly figure ever recorded,” said Tedros.
In a statement on Thursday, CAIR said: “The deliberate starvation of Gaza’s children should shock the conscience of every government, institution, and individual with the power to act. This is not a tragedy caused by natural disaster or misfortune — it is the result of a calculated policy by the genocidal Israeli government. “Forcibly starving civilians, especially children, is a war crime. The world must not look away. It must act now to stop this atrocity and hold those responsible accountable.”
CAIR repeated its call for the Trump administration, members of Congress, and the international community to demand an immediate end to the siege of Gaza, unfettered humanitarian access and accountability for those committing and complicit with Israel’s genocide.
Earlier on Thursday, CAIR called on the Trump administration to cut ties with a reported anti-Muslim mercenary leading security for the US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) in Gaza.
