Week Commemorating Birth of Hazrat Abdul Azim Planned in Rey
Abdul Azim Hassani (AS), also known as Shah Abdol Azim, was a fifth generation descendant of Imam Hassan ibn Ali (AS) and a companion of Imam Muhammad Taqi (AS).
The programs marking his birth anniversary will be held in Rey with the slogan “Ambassador of Guidance; Exemplar of Dignity”.
This was announced at a press conference in Rey on Monday by Hojat-ol-Islam Mohsen Arafati, the scientific and cultural deputy of the Astan (custodianship) of the holy shrine of Hazrat Abdul Azim (AS).
He noted that with the proposal of the Astan and the approval of the Rey City governorship, it has been decided that the cultural week of Rey will be held to coincide with the birth anniversary of this venerable figure.
For several years, the officials of Rey City have been designing and implementing their cultural programs and activities in the name and memory of this esteemed figure, and by announcing numerous programs, they have prepared the ground for holding this occasion in the most magnificent way possible, he stated.
Hojat-ol-Islam Arafati noted that Hazrat Abdul Azim (AS) is considered a distinguished and prominent personality in many aspects as one of the most prominent descendants of the Imams (AS).
He is a descendant of Imam Hassan Mujtaba (AS) and was one of the most prominent Shia hadith scholars, the cleric added.
“The late Ayatollah Rayshahri has narrated 120 Hadiths from Hazrat Abdul Azim (AS) who was a mediator of grace between the Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) and the Shias in transmitting knowledge.
“His jurisprudence also had a high status; in such a way that Imam Hadi (AS) referred the Shias to him in religious matters. This indicates the position of authority and jurisprudence of Hazrat Abdul Azim (AS) in his time. In addition, he was also active in the field of authorship and writing and compiled a book on the subject of the sermons of Imam Ali (AS).”

Hojat-ol-Islam Arafati noted that the work later became one of the sources used by Sayyid Razi in compiling Nahj al-Balagha.
He went on to say that for the birth anniversary of Hazrat Abdul Azim (AS), more than 85 programs have been planned in Rey city and Tehran province.
These programs will be implemented in various cultural, religious and social fields to explain the guiding role and scientific and spiritual services of Hazrat Abdul Azim (AS) for today’s society, he stated.

The cultural week will begin Wednesday, September 22nd, with the closing of the programs coinciding with the birth anniversary of Imam Hassan al-Askari (AS), he went on to say.
