IQNA – A man has been arrested on suspicion of religiously aggravated criminal damage after graffiti was painted on a mosque in Watford, England.

Police said the incident took place overnight between Saturday and Sunday at the Imam Hussein Foundation Centre, located on North Approach in Watford, Hertfordshire. The centre serves as a religious and community hub for local Muslims.

Authorities confirmed that the damage is being treated as a hate-related offence. A Hertfordshire Police spokesperson said officers have increased patrols around “key locations” to reassure residents and prevent further incidents.

The suspect remains in custody as inquiries continue.
