Muslims Launch Orphans Week Campaign in Bulgaria

The 13th National Orphans Week Campaign has been launched in Bulgaria by the Mashikhiyat (Islamic Affairs Office) of the country (second week of November 2025).

 

 

According to Muslimsaroundtheworld, the annual campaign is dedicated to helping orphans and is usually held in the first week of November, but this year it was held in the second week of November due to the renovation of the building of the Higher Islamic Center and the Sofia Theological Faculty.

The aim of this campaign is to collect donations to launch a special fund that will support children who have lost their parents on a monthly basis until they turn sixteen.

With the establishment of this fund, each child will receive a monthly allowance, and a special allowance has also been provided for children for the month of Ramadan.

Currently, the Islamic Affairs Office of Bulgaria has covered and is supporting 626 orphans with financial donations from Muslims and holds monthly meetings to provide them with spiritual support and strengthen the sense of care and attention in children.

Bihan Mohammad, Deputy Mufti of Bulgaria, stated at the opening ceremony of Orphans Week that supporting orphans is a human and religious responsibility and an expression of brotherhood.

He stressed that children who have lost their parents should not feel that they are alone.

Also speaking was Mustafa Haji, Grand Mufti of Bulgaria, who said the orphan support project began 10 years ago by supporting five children and gradually expanded as society’s awareness of this responsibility increased.

Stating that this campaign has become a symbol of collective solidarity, he added that in addition to providing financial assistance, the goal of this project is to provide support that preserves the dignity of children and gives them a sense of security.
