Celebration in Karbala Marks Imam Jawad Birth Anniversary
The celebration was held in the Bab al-Qibla courtyard of the mausoleum and was attended by Afzal Al-Shami, a member of the board of directors of the Astan (custodianship) of the shrine and a number of its officials, as well as a large crowd of pilgrims.
It began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by a speech by Iraqi cleric Sheikh Ali Mohan.
He began his speech by congratulating the attendees and the Islamic community on the auspicious occasions in the lunar Hijri month of Rajab.
He addressed aspects of the life of Imam Jawad (AS), his virtues, and the role of the 9th Imam in establishing Islamic values and spreading Islamic sciences, knowledge, and teachings.
According to Sayyed Aqeel al-Yasiri, a member of the Central Committee of the Astan, the ceremony included various programs, festive speeches, poetry recitations and special hymns for this blessed occasion.
He added that the ceremony ended with the honoring of the winners of a special cultural competition, which was organized by the Astan on the auspicious occasion.
