According to the public relations office of the World Forum for the Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST), at the press conference, Mawlavi Ishaq Madani, chairman of the Forum’s Supreme Council, referred to the great Hajj Congress as a great symbol of the unity of Muslims around the world and called for the realization of the comprehensive unity of the Islamic Ummah.
He emphasized that despite the vast capacities and possibilities of the Islamic world, the lack of complete unity will weaken the pillars of the Islamic Ummah and increase the influence of enemies in the ranks of Muslims.
Mawlavi Ishaq Madani considered unity to be the cure for many of the problems of the Islamic world today.
Referring to the decree of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution to establish the WFPIST, he considered this a great step towards the realization of Islamic unity and announced the purpose of this trip to emphasize as much as possible the necessity of unity in Muslim societies.
“In a situation where foreign media is continuously seeking to create division and discord among Islamic sects, the duty of scholars and elites of the Islamic world to confront these conspiracies has become heavier,” he said, adding that foreigners should not be allowed to oppress a part of the Islamic Ummah.
Elsewhere at the press conference, Sheikh Khalil Afra, a Sunni scholar, emphasized the need for Muslim unity and said in more than eighty verses of the Holy Quran, God Almighty has called believers to hold on to the divine rope and avoid division.
He added that Muslims gather together on religious occasions such as daily prayers, Friday prayers, Islamic holidays, and Hajj ceremonies, and they always ask God Almighty for the honor and glory of the Islamic Ummah.
Sheikh Afra also referred to the holding of the International Islamic Unity Conference in the Islamic Republic of Iran and said that in this event, scholars from more than fifty Islamic countries gather in Tehran and exchange views on issues of the Islamic world.
