WFPIST Chief Emphasizes Unity of the Islamic Ummah

IQNA – The secretary-general of the World Forum for the Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST), emphasized the necessity of enhancing unity and maintaining the sensitivity of the Islamic world towards the issue of Palestine.

Hojat-ol-Islam Hamid Shahriari, who arrived in Kuala Lumpur with a group of Iranian scholars and thinkers to participate in the “Unity of the Islamic Ummah and Palestine” conference, said that today, the Islamic world is at a historical turning point, and the global arrogance, led by America and accompanied by the Zionist regime, is trying to maintain its hegemony in the military, political, cultural, and economic spheres.

“In such circumstances, it is necessary for all cultural sectors, especially in the international arena, to become active and, by moving towards the ideal of a unified Islamic Ummah, which the Holy Quran emphasizes, pave the way for the formation of a new Islamic civilization.”

Referring to the role of Islamic countries in supporting the Palestinian people, he said the Islamic Republic of Iran looks to all Islamic countries, and Malaysia is among the countries that have always been at the forefront in supporting the Palestinian people.

Now is a good opportunity for Iran and Malaysia, along with other Islamic countries, to provide the basis for expanding effective assistance to the Palestinian people, he stated.

The regional conference on “Unity of the Islamic Ummah and Palestine” is being held in Kuala Lumpur with the presence of a group of Iranian scholars, members of the General Assembly of the WFPIST, and more than one hundred prominent figures active on the Palestinian issue from Malaysia and countries in the region.
