Yemen Quran Memorization Competition Kicks off
--Yemen's nationwide Quran competition titled " Ma'az" kicked off today, November 8, in the city of Taaz.
The Saba news agency quoted Abdolmalek Davood chairman of the executive committee of the competition as saying that the contest has been organized at the initiative of the association of serving holy Quran and Prophet Sunnah (Maaz) and will be the venue for Quranic competition of 128 male and female Quran memorizers from across the country.
"The 9th edition of Ma'az Quran memorization competition of Yemen is being held in three levels of memorization of 10, 20 and whole chapters of the holy Quran," he said.
128 contestants representing 28 Quranic institutes in 15 provinces will enter the competition.
Abdolmalek Dovood went on to say that the contest aims at motivating the youth to enter Quranic fields, promoting scientific level of students as well as pushing for further cooperation among Quranic institutes of Yemen.
Concluding his remarks, chairman of the executive committee said that the competition will run for a week.
