According to court documents, Jedediah Stout set fire to the Islamic Society of Joplin mosque on August 6, 2012. The mosque burned down and many donations made to the mosque during the holy period of Ramadan were lost. Stout told investigators he did not like Islam as a religion.
On two occasions in October 2013, Stout was seen on surveillance cameras tossing data-x-items filled with an accelerant onto the roof of the Planned Parenthood facility in Joplin. He ignited material attached to items containing the accelerant, but they never caught fire. Stout admitted to using the same method to burn down the mosque.
Stout pleaded guilty to a four-count indictment. He remains in federal custody without bond to await sentencing.
