TEHRAN (IQNA) – In a meeting this week, Iranian and Iraqi officials conferred on the status of Quranic cooperation between the two states.

Iranian cultural attaché in Baghdad Hamzeh Nejati Arani made a visit to the National Quranic Sciences Center of Iraq, holding talks with the center’s chief Rafi al-Ameri, Islamic Culture and Relations Organization reported.

Pointing to various activates of the center, Al-Ameri referred to the need for expanding joint activities in the field of Quranic sciences.

The Iranian envoy, for his part, appreciated the center’s efforts to introduce Iraqi contenders to international Quranic competitions in Iran.

The Iranian cultural office is ready to hold special courses on recitation and memorization for Iraqi masters, Nejati Arani said.

Supporting institutes that perform studies on Quranic sciences and Tafsir and taking steps to expand Quranic schools were the two other proposals made by the Iranian official.

The first step for starting cooperation is sharing information about the Quranic capacities of the two sides, the envoy added.

At the end of the meeting, Al-Ameri presented a six-volume book published by the center.
