Quranic Circle Planned to Commemorate Late Sheikh Tablawi in Egypt

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A Quranic circle is set to be held later today to mark the second death anniversary of Sheikh Mohamed Mahmoud Tablawi, former head of Egypt’s Union of Qaris and Quran Memorizers.

 

According to Elbalad, the ceremony has been organized by the late qari’s family in a cemetery in the south of Cairo.

Muhammad al-Saati, a spokesman with the Egyptian union of qaris said that the ceremony will start after Zuhr prayer. A delegation from the union, he continued, will also take part in the event, reciting some verses and bestowing the thawab to the late qari.

Mohamed Mahmoud Tablawi was born on November 14, 1934, in the village Met Oqba in Egypt.

Aged 4 years, Sheikh started learning the Holy Quran and completed it at the age of 9.

He travelled to many countries as a representative of Al-Azhar and Egypt’s Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Ministry.

He also served as a member of panels of judges in many international Quran contests.

He died on May 5, 2020, corresponding to the twelfth of the holy month of Ramadan in the year 1441 AH, at the age of 86.
