The competition had been organized by Al-Azhar Islamic Center among some 1,000 male and female students of institutes affiliated to the center.
They competed in the category of memorization of the Holy Quran.
Addressing the closing ceremony, Coptic priest Yunus Adib said his participation at the event was meant to send the message of fraternity and kindness in the holy month of Ramadan, El-Balad News reported.
He added that he holds the holy Muslim month in great respect.
Egyptian media outlets welcomed his move, noting that the Coptic cleric has also contributed to distribution of Iftar meals among the needy in Ramadan.
Egypt is a country in North Africa with a population of around 100 million.
Coptic Christians make up around ten percent of the Arab country’s population.
