TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi congratulated Eid al-Adha to leaders of Islamic countries across the globe.

In separate messages to the leaders of Islamic countries, the President congratulated the arrival of Eid al-Adha, hoping for the unity of Muslim Ummah around the teachings of Islam.

In his message of congratulations on the arrival of Eid al-Adha to the leaders of Islamic countries, Raeisi wrote, "Eid al-Adha is the sincerest manifestation of worship, a symbol of sacrifice and submission in the presence of God, and the day of Prophet Abraham's (PBUH) pride in the divine test, acceptance of obedience and being chosen as the leader and role model for believers.”

He has expressed hope that with the blessing of this auspicious festival, the hearts of believers will become closer to each other under the shadow of the teachings of Islam and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and all Muslims around the world step in the path of unity and take steps for solidarity so that we can witness the increasing honour and pride of the Islamic community in all international stages, according to Iranian President’s official press service.

Raeisi also held separate phone talks with his Syrian counterpart Bashar Assad and Pakistani PM Shehbaz Sharif, congratulating the Eid while also talking about bilateral relations.

Eid al-Adha is one of the most important Islamic festivals held after the Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca.

Also known as the sacrifice feast, it is celebrated to honor the dedication and willingness of Prophet Abraham (AS) to sacrifice his son as an act of submission on God’s command.

This year it is celebrated on Sunday, July 10, in Iran.
