Signs of Hypocrites in Muslim Society
One of the root causes of problems in the Muslim Ummah is the group of hypocrites. Verse 64 of Surah At-Tawbah reads: “The hypocrites are afraid that some revelation will be revealed, thus, making public what is in their hearts. (Muhammad), tell them, ‘Continue in your mockery; God will certainly let whatever causes you worry to take place’.”
Since early Islam, hypocrites have been following their own interests. “Those who did not take part in the battle (of Tabuk), were glad about their staying home against the order of the Messenger of God. They did not want to fight for the cause of God with their property and in person and said, ‘Do not march (to the battle) on the hot days.’ (Muhammad), tell them, ‘The heat of hell fire is much more severe, if only you would understand’.” (Surah At-Tawbah, verse 81)
They are happy for safeguarding their interests. Their reason for not attending the challenges was that humans should act rationally and not face dangers. The next verse of the Surah notes that “They should laugh less and weep more as a recompense for what they have gained.”
The case, however, is different for those who have valid excuses. “There is no fault for the weak, the sick, and those lacking the means to spend (to stay behind), if they are true to Allah and His Messenger. There is no way against the righteous; Allah is Forgiving, the Most Merciful.” (Verse 91)
Meanwhile, verse 107 of the Surah introduces a group that are yet more dangerous than earlier hypocrites: “And there are those who have taken a mosque to cause harm, disbelief, and to divide the believers, and as a place of ambush for those who fought Allah and His Messenger before. They swear: 'We desired nothing but good', but Allah bears witness that they are liars.”
In a sophisticated operation, these individuals built a mosque to sow discord among Muslims.
When a virus enters our body, the body recognizes it as an enemy because of the difference in the DNA. However, the reason for cancer being more dangerous is that it is the body’s own cells and thus non-recognizable. The last-mentioned group does what cancerous cells do. They build mosques to sow discord and use them to fight the Islamic government.
