The competition was sponsored by Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Al-Ittihad website reported.
Numerous programs such as workshops, speeches, educational events and radio programs were held in mosques, schools, colleges and clubs in Ras Al-Khaimah on the sidelines of the Quranic contest.
Ahmed Muhammad al-Shahi, head of the Ras Al Khaimah Foundation for the Holy Quran and Its Sciences, said at the closing ceremony that the organizers of the Ras Al Khaimah Quran Award seek to promote moderation, patience, and good values among the youths and encourage them to enhance their talents.
The competition was held for different groups of contenders, including boys, girls, women, imams of mosques, muezzins, inmates and new Muslims living in the UAE.
Winners were awarded cash prizes totaling more than 575,000 UAE dirhams.
