TEHRAN (IQNA) – Islam has paid special attention to the issue of family and considered special roles and responsibilities for each member of the family so that they can live together in love and peace.

Surah At-Talaq

The religion also has a solution for those couples who have severe disputes and can no longer live together. This has been discussed in Surah At-Talaq.

At-Talaq is the 65th chapter of the Quran that has 12 verses and is in the 28th Juz. It is Madani and the 99th Surah revealed to the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

Talaq in Arabic means divorce. More than half of the Surah is about the rules relating to the separation of husband and wife from Islam’s viewpoint, and hence the name of the chapter.

In the first part of the Surah, overall rules about divorce are mentioned along with warning, threat and good news.

It also talks about the rights of women who are divorced and those who are pregnant at the time of divorce. The Surah then mentions the fate of previous nations and societies as a lesson.

The second part of the chapter highlights the greatness of God, reward for the righteous and punishment for evil-doers.

It refers to the fate of two groups: Those who disobeyed God and were given a severe punishment and those who obeyed God and acted upon the teachings of divine prophets and, therefore, received God’s special guidance and will enjoy the blessings of paradise.

It also discusses issues like Tawheed (monotheism), Resurrection and prophethood, stressing the need for Taqwa (God-fearing) and putting one’s trust in God.
