Iran's 46th National Quran Competition Begins

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The final round of the 46th edition of Iran’s National Holy Quran Competition began in the northeastern city of Bojnourd on Friday morning.

The inaugural ceremony of the event was held on Thursday night with officials, contestants, and a large group of audience in attendance. 

The ceremony started with a recitation of verses from Surah Ghafir by Iranian international qari Hadi Esfidani.

Several officials addressed the event, highlighting the role that the Holy Quran plays in guiding humanity in different aspects of life. 

The ceremony also remembered thousands of Palestinians who have been killed in the Gaza Strip by the brutal Israeli attacks since October 7 while also slamming the recent acts of desecration of the Holy Quran.

Men and women contenders will compete in different categories such as Quran recitation and memorization, Tarteel, Adhan recitation, choral recitation, and Tawasheeh. 

The competition will run through December 9, according to the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization.

The Islamic Republic of Iran’s National Quran Competition is annually held by the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization with the participation of top Quran qaris and memorizers from across the country.

The top winners of the competition will represent Iran in the upcoming international Quran competitions across the world.
