The group, known as the Network 100-GTA, London, Ottawa, Montreal, has about 400 members, mostly professionals such as lawyers and doctors. The group was formed in December 2014 and helped Trudeau win his first election in 2015.
In a letter sent to Liberal Party president Sachit Mehra on November 27, the group said it had repeatedly urged Trudeau to call for a ceasefire in the conflict, which has killed hundreds of civilians, mostly in Gaza. However, the group said Trudeau did not seem to listen or care about the humanitarian crisis, CBC News reported.
"With broken hearts, we must depart the Laurier Club," the group wrote, referring to the elite club of Liberal Party donors who contribute at least $1,700 per year.
"The idea that this situation will all be forgotten in two years is an extremely risky and unwise strategy for the Party. The scale of the humanitarian loss is simply unprecedented."

The group said it had donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Liberal Party annually since December 2014. CBC News verified with Elections Canada that one member of the group had given nearly $19,000 to the Liberals since the group's inception.
The withdrawal comes as the Muslim community in Canada has slammed their government's response to the crisis in Gaza where Israeli strikes since October 7 have killed more than 17,000 people, mostly women and children.
