IQNA – One of the characteristics of racist people is the tendency to foment division and disunity.

Disunity and discord

What does the Quran say about this tendency and what does it recommend in order to counter it?

Creating discord and disunity in societies is one of the results of racism as each group considers itself superior to others.

The Holy Quran refers to provoking war and Fitna (sedition) as one of the characteristics of Jews during the early years after the advent of Islam.

“Whenever they (the Jews) kindle the fire of war, Allah extinguishes it. They spread corruption in the land, and Allah does not love those who corrupt.” (Verse 64 of Surah Al-Ma’idah)

This is the criminal disposition of people whose entire existence is filled with wickedness and evil behavior and hate all other people. They try to take revenge on other people by waging wars and inciting sedition but God always supports Muslims and does not allow the plans of the enemies to achieve their goals.

In the Protocols Elders of Zion (Protocol 5), it says: “Temporarily, a world coalition of the Goys would be able to hold us in check, but we are insured against this by roots of dissension so deep among them that they cannot now be extracted. We have set at variance the personal and national interests of the Goys; we have incited religious and race hatred, nurtured by us in their hearts for twenty centuries.”

However, God counters the divisive attempts of this racist group by promoting Islamic fraternity: “Believers are each other's brothers. Restore peace among your brothers. Have fear of God so that perhaps you will receive mercy.” (Verse 10 of Surah Al-Hujurat)

The Quran not only stresses unity among Muslims but also considers all divine faiths to be one. The Quran endorses the previous divine books and says all divine prophets have sought one thing, namely inviting all people to the Lord of the Universe and the One God. That is why the framework of all divine faiths is the same and they have common principles.

Sowing the seeds of discord and disunity has created many challenges and problems in the history of the Muslim Ummah. This is while God in several verses have warned Muslims against discord and disunity.
