Youths Quran Contest Launched in Cape Town

IQNA – Cape Town in South Africa is hosting the fifth Quran competition for youths.

The preliminary round of the contest began in the city on Saturday, Map Express reported. 

The competition has been organized by the Morocco-based Mohammed VI Foundation of African Uelma (scholars).

A total of 19 men and women are competing in Quran memorization, recitation and Tarteel.

Winners will qualify for the fifth edition of the Africa youths Quran competition.

The preliminary stage of the contest has started in different African countries since April 19 and will conclude on May 20.

The contenders are Quran memorizers who have mastery in Quran recitation and Tarteel.

The foundation says the competition is aimed at promoting the culture of Quran memorization and recitation among Muslim youths in Africa.

It is also an opportunity for identifying Quranic talents among the youths.

Based in Morocco, the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulema, according to its founders, is an Islamic religious institution seeking to prevent radicalization and fight sectarianism within Islam.

The foundation’s goal is to unite and coordinate the efforts of Muslim theologians from Morocco and other African countries to consolidate Islamic values of tolerance and critical exploration of religious texts.
