When he learned that a disabled student on wheelchair has arrived for taking an exam, Abdul Fattah Khizr, the dean of Al-Azhar University’s Faculty of Quran and Quranic Sciences, went to give him the test himself.
Also during the examination, he served the student with dates, according to Cairo24 website.
The faculty’s officials said his move was based on the Islamic values and teachings that underline respecting and sympathizing with those who have disabilities.
It was also in line with respecting and honoring the memorizers and reciters of the Holy Quran, they said.
In recent years, there have been various initiatives and plans for enhancement of Quran teaching among the disabled.
