An Egyptian Qari Who Traveled to 100 Countries for Quran Recitation

IQNA – Mohamed Mahmoud Tiblawi was a prominent qari in Egypt who served as the president of the country’s Association of Quran Reciters and Memorizers for several years.

Yesterday, May 5, marked the 4th anniversary of the Quran’s reciter’s death. 

Tiblawi was born on November 14, 1934, in a village in Giza. His father sent him to the Maktab (traditional Quran school) of the village to learn the Quran at the age of four.

He learned Quran recitation and then memorized the entire Quran at 14.

Tiblawi began to recite Quran at different programs and soon was invited to the Quran Radio.

He traveled to nearly 100 countries for the recitation of the Holy Quran as a representative of Egypt’s Awqaf ministry or Al-Azhar Islamic Center.

He also served as a member of panels of arbiters in various international Quran competitions.

He received the state medial of Lebanon for his efforts in serving the Holy Quran.

Tiblawi died on May 5, 2020, at the age of 86 and after serving the Holy Book for decades.

Following are two of his performances in which he recited Verses 85 to 88 of Surah Al-Anbiya and 84 to 86 of Surah Yunus.
