Palestinian Islamic Jihad Voices Solidarity with Iran after Helicopter Crash

IQNA – The Palestinian Islamic Jihad resistance movement expressed solidarity with the Islamic Republic of Iran after a helicopter carrying Iran’s president and his companions crashed.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian are confirmed to have died in the crash northwest of the country.

The president, the foreign minister, the Friday prayer leader of Tabriz and the governor of East Azarbaijan province and several other people were on board the chopper when it crashed in a remote area in the northwestern province on Sunday afternoon.  

President Raeisi and his accompanying delegation were returning from a ceremony to inaugurate a dam on the Aras River with Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev.

The incident happened in the Dizmar forest, nestled between the cities of Varzaqan and Jolfa in East Azerbaijan.

Rescue teams located the wreckage of the helicopter in the wee hours of Monday morning.
