IQNA – Heads of state, international organizations and world figures continue to send message of condolences over the martyrdom of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.

The president, the top diplomat and their companions were killed in a helicopter crash on Sunday.

In a message to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, Pope Francis extended condolences over the tragic incident.

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres also offered sympathies to the Iranian nation and government as well as the families of the martyrs.

In a telephone conversation with the interim head of Iran’s executive branch Mohammad Mokhber, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said his country sympathizes with the Iranian nation and government over the loss of senior officials.

He said Ayatollah Raisi symbolized an all-out revolutionary and freedom-loving figure in the contemporary era.

Maduro also described the relations between Iran and Venezuela as age-old and said the friendship and fraternity between the two nations will last forever.

Turkish President Recep Tayyib Erdogan also talked to Mokhber on the phone, saying his country stand by Iran in these bitter days.

He offered condolences to the Iranian people and leadership and wished them patience to endure this tragedy.

The presidents of Senegal, Guinea-Bissau, and China and the foreign minister of Saudi Arabia were among others to offer sympathies to Iran over the tragic losses.

Al-Azhar chief Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayyeb also sent condolences, wishing the bereaved families patience and praying for divine mercy for the martyrs’ souls.

Also, the UN Security Council in its Monday session held a minute of silence for the martyrs of the helicopter crash in Iran.
