Mohamed Izzat, secretary general of the ministry’s Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs, said the centers will be launched in cities across the country.
He made the remarks in an address to the opening ceremony of the 15th cultural gathering of Egypt’s prayer leaders.
He stressed that the Awqaf ministry has extensive plans for the development of Quranic activities, especially by founding centers for teaching Quran memorization and recitation, al-Masri al-Yawm website reported.
Development of Quran competitions at the national and international levels is also on the agenda, he added.
Launching and expanding online Quran memorization programs and developing Quran teaching programs for children are among the ministry’s other plans, he stated.
