Hajj 2024: 70% of Iranian Pilgrims Back Home

IQNA – According to the Iranian Hajj officials, some 70% of Iranian pilgrims have returned home after completing Hajj rituals in Saudi Arabia.

 

 

The remaining pilgrims are scheduled to leave, with the last group set to depart from Medina to Iran this Friday.

Current figures indicate that there are still 9,000 Iranian pilgrims and Hajj personnel in Medina, while another 16,000 are in Mecca.

The Hajj, an annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, is a mandatory religious duty for Muslims who are physically and financially capable of undertaking the journey at least once in their lifetime.

This year's Hajj saw the participation of over 87,600 Iranian nationals. Meanwhile, 28 Iranian pilgrims lost their lives during the pilgrimage this year.

Approximately 1.8 million pilgrims, with 1.6 million coming from outside Saudi Arabia, performed Hajj this year.
