Rulers of Islamic Nations Not Fulfilling Duties Towards Palestinians: Sunni Cleric

"We all know that the Zionist regime has usurped Muslim lands and committed numerous crimes in Palestine, including the destruction of schools, hospitals, and residential buildings. However, Islamic rulers are not fulfilling the duties imposed on them by Islam," Habib al-Rahman Motahari, head of a Sunni seminary in Khaf, northeast Iran, told IQNA.

"The Gaza war has shown that many Islamic countries have been negligent in this regard," he said.

"We support and appreciate anyone who defends the oppressed Palestinian nation, throws a stone at the Zionist regime, and defends the rights of the Palestinian Muslim nation," he said, lauding Iran's support for Palestinians.

The Israeli regime has been attacking the besieged Gaza Strip since October last year following Palestinian resistance group's operation against the entity in response to increased crimes against Palestinians. The Israeli aggression has killed at least 38,345 Palestinians, mostly women and children.

Motahari also highlighted the issue of Muslim unity, saying, "All people of knowledge and faith, and those familiar with the verses of the Quran and the life of the Prophet (PBUH), understand the importance of unity and its positive outcomes."

Quoting verse 103 of Surah Al-Imran which reads, "And hold fast to the Bond of Allah, together, and do not scatter," the cleric said that the revelation of an independent verse on this matter highlights the significance of unity in the Holy Quran.
