'Economic Jihad': Ayatollah Arafi Calls for Joint Islamic Market
"More important than these issues is the creation of economic jihad with the participation of all Islamic countries," the head of the Iranian Seminaries said on Thursday while addressing a local event in Qom.
He lamented the current state of the Islamic community, attributing its lack of a unified market to "weak and incapable governments."
Ayatollah Arafi called for a concerted effort in scientific and explanatory jihad to guide the Islamic community towards a united bloc and a common market.
He highlighted the importance of financial resources in confronting adversaries, stating, "One of the most important uses of wealth is in confronting the enemies of God. In this type of jihad, charity is also considered financial jihad; economic jihad follows the same approach."
He further elaborated on the various forms of jihad, including technological, financial, and explanatory efforts, all of which are essential in facing adversaries.
"Sometimes the thought of Islam is in danger, and in this field, both thought and wealth must be sacrificed; sometimes the honor and the Islamic community are in danger, and sometimes Islamic lands are in danger, and jihad includes all these cases," he explained.

Reflecting on the past year, Ayatollah Arafi praised the exemplary efforts of Muslims, particularly his compatriots, in financial jihad. He urged that this form of jihad should evolve into a higher economic jihad, culminating in the formation of a joint Islamic market.
The comments come as Iranian people have been donating large sums of money and jewelry to help the oppressed people of Gaza and Lebanon who have come under the relentless attacks of the Israeli regime since October last year.
