Speaking in a phone conversation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Wednesday, Pezeshkian said deepening ties between the two countries would strengthen the power of the Muslim world in defending Palestine.
Condemning the crimes committed by the Zionist regime, he stressed the need for all Muslim countries to use all their power and capacity to end the Israeli regime’s atrocities.
He welcomed the growing trend of ties between Iran and Saudi Arabia and considered it to be in the interest of the region and world.
He hoped that the closer relations between the two sides would lead to creation of unbreakable bonds among Muslim countries.
Bin Salman, for his part, congratulated Pezshkian on his victory in Iran’s presidential election and said the development of cooperation between Iran and Saudi Arabia, as two major and influential countries in the region, is necessary.

He also said the expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tehran and Riyadh would bring about unity and consensus in dealing with the Muslims world’s issues, including the Palestinian issue.
Iran and Saudi Arabia resumed relations following a seven-year hiatus under a China-brokered deal in 2023, which saw the two sides re-open diplomatic missions.
Tehran and Riyadh also agreed to implement a security cooperation agreement signed in April 2001 and another accord reached in May 1998 to boost economic, commercial, investment, technical, scientific, cultural, sports, and youth affairs cooperation.
