IQNA – The Grand Mufti of Oman called on the world’s Muslims to support the resistance of Yemen.

Grand Mufti of Oman Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalili

Following the Zionist regime’s deadly attack on Yemen, Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalili wrote in a post on X that the Israeli regime’s onslaught was due to Yemen’s support for the truth, referring to the situation in Gaza.

This is an aggression on all Muslims, he said, adding that all Muslims should support and help their brothers in Yemen.

The senior cleric also prayed for divine mercy for the souls of those martyred in the attack.

The Israeli regime’s warplanes have launched airstrikes on Yemen's strategic western province of Hudaydah, following threats to retaliate against a prior drone strike by Yemeni armed forces.

This marks the first public Israeli attack on Yemen amidst escalating tensions. Yemen's al-Masirah television network reported that the airstrikes hit fuel storage facilities in the port city, causing a fire.

The port is crucial for oil exports and serves as a key conduit for civilian goods and humanitarian aid to Yemen. The network also reported casualties from the strikes, though the exact number was not specified.

The Yemeni forces have been targeting the occupied Palestinian territories as well as Israeli ships and vessels affiliated with it since October 7, when the regime in Tel Aviv began its Gaza onslaught, killing nearly 39,000 Palestinians.

They have vowed to keep up their operations as long as the regime sustained the offensive against Gaza and a simultaneous siege that it has been enforcing against the Palestinian territory.
