It was organized Thursday morning after the ritual of Salat al-Mayyit (prayer for the deceased) was performed for the martyred resistance leader at the University of Tehran.
The funeral prayer was led by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.
The funeral procession was then addressed by Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf who highlighted the steadfastness of Haniyeh in the struggle against the Zionist regime.
He said Haniyeh told him during a trip to Tehran two months ago that the resistance of the people of the Gaza Strip against the Israeli regime’s aggression stems from their commitment to the Holy Quran’s teachings and culture.

Elsewhere at the funeral procession, Iranian elegist Meytham Motiei recited poems in condemnation of the Israeli assassination of Haniyeh and in praise of the Palestinian people’s heroism.
Khalil al-Haya al-Sama, a senior member of Hamas, also delivered a speech at the event.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced on Wednesday morning that Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards were killed when their residence was struck in Tehran.
The statement indicated that the attack is under investigation, with results expected to be announced later.
Haniyeh was in Tehran to attend the inauguration ceremony of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
Iran has declared three days of morning following the martyrdom of Haniyeh.
