Muslim States’ Awqaf Ministers Convene in Mecca
Role of Awqaf ministries in promotion of moderation principles and values is the theme of this year’s conference.
It has been organized by the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance.
Awqaf ministers, Muftis, and heads of Islamic institutions from 62 countries are taking part in the two-day event.
Various panels are planned to discuss different aspects of the main theme of the conference as well as other subjects, Okaz newspaper reported.
Confronting extremism and terrorism and preventing extremism in sermons, common human values of coexistence and tolerance, hate against Muslims and Islam, understanding religious discourse and its role in promotion of moderation and enhancement of values, and dangers of issuing Fatwa without proper knowledge are some of the themes to be addressed in the panels.

Speakers will also talk about threats of heresy and ways to counter it, Awqaf ministries’ use of media and preventing threats posed by them, and experiences of Awqaf ministries in building and maintenance of mosques.
