The closing ceremony was held on Wednesday evening where the top contenders in the five categories of the competition were introduced.
Anas bin Ateeque from Bangladesh came first in memorization of the entre Quran, winning a cash prize of 200,000 Saudi riyals.
The runner-up in this category was Mazhir HSuaib Yabtu fom the Philippines, with the representatives of Libya, Yemen and Mali coming third to fifth respectively.
In the category of memorization of 15 Juzes (half of the Quran), Muaz Mahmud from Bangladesh won the first prize, followed by Obada Nouraldin Mohammed from Palestine and Ahmed Farhan from Indonesia.
The memorizers from Mali and the United States came fourth and fifth in this category, respectively.
Iran’s representatives in the competition, Mohammad Hossein Behzadfar and Mohammad Mehdi Rezaei, were not among the top five contenders in the two categories.
They will return to Iran on Friday morning.
A total of 174 contestants from 123 countries competed in the final round of the international Quranic event.
