IQNA – A ceremony was held in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi to honor winners of a recent Quran competition.

Secretary General of the Muslim World League Muhammad bin Abdul Karim Issa was present at the ceremony, according to al-Hiwar website. 

The competition had been held earlier this year under the title of ‘elites of the ten styles of Quran recitation’ with the participation of a large number of Quran memorizers from different African countries.

The competition was aimed at encouraging Quran memorizers who have mastery over the ten styles of Quran recitation.

Promoting the teachings of the Holy Book and raising generations of capable Quran generations were among the other objectives of the Quranic event.

In an address to the honoring ceremony, the Muslim World League chief underlined reflection and contemplation on the Quran and acting upon its teachings.

Kenya is a country in East Africa with coastline on the Indian Ocean. Islam is the religion of more than 11 percent of the Kenyan population, or approximately 4.3 million people.
