Man Charged with Shooting Outside Minneapolis Mosque Amid Drug Confrontation

IQNA – A 68-year-old Shakopee man, Yancy Hall, is facing charges for shooting a man outside Masjid An-Nur Mosque in Minneapolis during a drug-related confrontation.

 

The incident occurred on August 19 at around 5:45 p.m. on Lyndale Avenue North.

A 75-year-old man, who had just left evening prayer, confronted Hall about selling drugs near the mosque.

 After an exchange of words, Hall allegedly made a U-turn and fired multiple shots, injuring the man in his arms and shoulders, Fox 9 reported on Friday.

The victim was taken to the hospital, but his condition remains undisclosed.

Hall, under investigation for narcotics, was identified through a tracker on his SUV and surveillance footage. He confessed to the shooting, claiming the victim threatened him.

Hall faces charges of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and drive-by shooting. He remains in custody at Hennepin County Jail and was scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
