Investigation Launched after Quran Desecration in India’s Mumbai

IQNA – A police investigation has been launched in India’s Mumbai following the discovery of torn pages from the Holy Quran.

Pages from the Holy Book were found torn at the city’s Bandra U-bridge, an official reported on Wednesday.

A case has been registered against unidentified individuals for offending religious sentiments.

The incident was uncovered on Tuesday morning by 31-year-old Mohammed Shaukat Ali Sayyad, who found the scattered pages at Bandra U-bridge on the Western Express Highway.

Sayyad, a resident of Sion, began collecting the pages, soon joined by others in his effort.

After gathering the pages, Sayyad filed an official complaint at the Bandra police station.

The authorities have registered a case against unknown individuals, charging them with inciting religious enmity and hurting the sentiments of a specific community.
