Kazakhstan’s qari Ahmet Serik led the list of contestants, followed by Canadian qari Mhammad Maruf Hssain and Indian qariah Sumayya Sadia, according to JAKIM.
The other contenders of the third night were Wahyu Andi Saputra from Indonesia, Ahmet Redzematovic from Montenegro, Rumaisa Abdul Rashid from Pakistan, Abdullah Soe Min Htike from Myanmar, Raihana Ambangala from the Philippines, and Muhammad Baqir Shahul Hameed from Hong Kong.
In the morning, 10 participants in the memorization category had their performance.
A total of 92 Quran reciters and memorizers from 71 countries are taking part in the competition, known as the Malaysia International Quran Recitation and Memorization Assembly (MTHQA).
