IQNA – Iran’s representative in Malaysia’s 64th international Quran competition said a number of issues prevented him from offering his best performance at the contest.

Iranian Qari Says Conditions Made It Difficult for Him to Show His Best at Malaysia Quran Contest

Hamid Reza Nasiri performed his recitation at the prestigious Quranic event on Thursday evening.

He told IQNA afterwards that the conditions did not go well for him before the performance.

He noted that his flight to Kuala Lumpur was canceled twice due to the tense situation in the Middle East, resulting in a long delay in arriving in Malaysia.

Worrying about a possible third cancellation also had a negative impact on his morale and affected the planned coordination, he stated.

Nasiri added that the long flight from Dubai to Kuala Lumpur was another negative factor.

There was yet another issue, he said, that is the absence of a guide who had been planned to accompany him in the competition.

Iranian Quran expert Mohammad Hossein Saeedian was supposed to be his guide at the contest but his trip was called off.

Nasiri said that because of these problems, he could not give the performance he wanted to give at the competition.

He referred to the representative of Malaysia as his main rival.

Nasiri also said it is not clear whether he can be among the top three winners in the recitation category.

Here is Nasiri's recitation at the contest:
