IQNA – A representative of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement denied reports on the martyrdom of the movement’s secretary general, Ziyad al-Nakhalah.

Isma’il al-Sandawi, who represents Islamic Jihad in Syria, said neither al-Nakhalah nor any other member of the movement have been martyred in a recent Israeli regime attack in Damascus, RT reported.

It came after the Zionist regime attacked a car in a Damascus neighborhood in a criminal move on Monday afternoon.

Some media outlets and social media channels later claimed that al-Nakhalah had been assassinated in the attack.

A Sputnik reporter said that one individual was killed in the attack that targeted a car in front of a hotel in the city’s al-Maza neighborhood.

The individual had just returned from a mourning ceremony held for Yahya Sinwar, the leader of the Hamas resistance movement in the Gaza Strip, the reporter said.

He added that the attack seem to have been carried out with a guided missile fired from the Lebanese airspace.
