Sheikh Ahemd al-Tayeb referred to massacres and genocides in the world, including the Israeli regime’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip and said the world is suffering from a lack of enthusiasm and resolve for establishing peace.
This has made peace an unattainable wish, he said, according to Ahl Misr website.
Al-Tayeb made the remarks in a meeting with Syafruddin Kambo, chairman of the World Peace Foundation.
He said that as a result of daily aggressions and atrocities, the concept of peace has been undermined.
Our greatest wish in current conditions is achieving peace in the region and the world and an end to the sufferings of the Palestinian nation so that they can regain their rights and establish their independent country and live in peace and security like other nations, al-Tayeb said.

The meeting came at a time when Egypt is engaged in intense diplomatic efforts for an end to the Israeli war on Gaza.
The Israeli regime’s army began a devastating offensive on Gaza last October.
More than 43,200 people have since been killed, mostly women and children, and over 100,000 injured, according to local health authorities.
The Israeli onslaught has displaced almost the entire population of the territory amid an ongoing blockade that has led to severe shortages of food, clean water and medicine.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its brutal war on Gaza.
