IQNA – The Palestinian Islamic Jihad resistance movement denounced the Zionist regime’s acts of aggression against Syria launched after the fall of President Bashar al-Assad’s government.

In a statement on Sunday, the Islamic Jihad strongly condemned the Israeli regime's moves as a blatant aggression against the Syrian people and an exploitation of the situation for expansionist purposes. 

The expansion of Israeli occupation of Syrian lands proves that the Zionist regime is the real enemy of regional nations, it said.

The statement also described Israeli airstrikes on different areas in Syria, including the capital Damascus,

On Sunday, Israeli warplanes launched fresh airstrikes on several parts of Syria, including Damascus.

Security sources reported that Israeli aircraft targeted the al-Mazzeh military base in Damascus and Khalkhalah in al-Suweida province.

Additional strikes hit a security complex in the Kafr Sousa district and residential areas on the outskirts of the capital, with loud explosions reportedly heard across the city.

Further attacks were reported in rural Daraa, where alleged weapons depots, missile manufacturing sites, and air defense systems were targeted.

Israeli forces earlier entered Syrian territory, advancing into the Quneitra region near the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.
