Algeria to Host Int’l Conference on Quran Translations

IQNA – An international conference on translations of the Holy Quran will be held in Mascara, a city in northwest Algeria, on Wednesday.

“Translations of the Quran with a focus on old heritage and contemporary renderings; questions about method, secret and condition of translation” is the title of the conference. 

The faculty of literature and languages of Mascara’s Mustafa Istanbuli University will organize the event in cooperation with Algeria’s Islamic Supreme Council, according to elitihadcom website.

Theoretical topics related to Quran translation in the past and present, contemporary approaches to Quran translation, and accepted method of Quran translation are among the themes to be discussed at the conference.

University scholars and Quran experts from Algeria, Saudi Arabia and Egypt will address it.

Offering solutions and strategies to tackle theoretical barriers facing Quran translators and studying the theoretical efforts made in the field of Quran translation are among the goals of the scholarly event.
