The finals will kick off in the northeastern holy city of Mashhad on January 26 and run until January 31.
In the preliminary stage, a total of 350 participants from 102 countries were evaluated by the judges in five categories in the men and women sections. Ultimately, 57 Quran reciters, memorizers, and Tarteel reciters from 27 countries advanced to the final stage.
Iran and Bangladesh are the two countries that have representatives in all of the five categories in the finals.
Lebanon, Ivory Coast, Indonesia, and Iraq each have four representatives, while Egypt, Nigeria and the Philippines have three representatives each.
The other participating countries are Afghanistan (2 representatives), Yemen (2), Pakistan (2), Kyrgyzstan (2), Ghana (1), Senegal (1), Bahrain (1), Thailand (1), Kenya (1), Libya (1), Australia (1), Tunisia (1), Finland (1), India (1), Tanzania (1), Germany (1), Comoros (1), and Canada (1).
The International Holy Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran is annually organized by the country’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization.
