IQNA –   Ramadan Ahmed, a 64-year-old Palestinian sculptor, has turned to art to document the devastating realities of life in Gaza during the Israeli aggression.

Using his skills in stone carving, Ahmed seeks to preserve the tragic experiences of over two million Palestinians in Gaza, many of whom endured significant hardships, including the loss of thousands of lives and the destruction of homes, mosques, churches, and vital infrastructure.

Ahmed, deeply impacted by the war, draws on his personal experience of displacement, Al Jazeera reported on Tuesday.

He and his family were forced to flee their home in Khan Younis in southern Gaza during Israel's ground invasion.

Reflecting on his artistic mission, he described his work as "resistance on the artistic front," emphasizing that resistance is not confined to arms but can also be expressed through individual talents and efforts to narrate the Palestinian struggle.

During the war, Ahmed completed an intricate stone carving depicting the suffering and massacres faced by the people of Gaza.

The artwork captures key symbols of the genocidal war, including Israel's security wall, which separates Gaza from the rest of the occupied territories. This wall played a pivotal role during the war, serving as an entry point for Israeli tanks and bulldozers in their ground offensive after the conflict began on October 7, 2023.

In another section, Ahmed sculpted dozens of stones into the shape of tents, representing the makeshift shelters that provided refuge to hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians forced to flee their homes.

For Ahmed, these artistic expressions are not just about memorializing the past but also about highlighting the resilience and enduring spirit of the Palestinian people.

After failing to achieve its goals in Gaza, the Israeli regime accepted a ceasefire that began on Sunday morning, brining at least a temporary halt to the relentless air and ground attacks which killed more than 46,000 Palestinians since October 7, 2023.
