IQNA – A ceremony was held in Mauritania to honor graduates from the Center for Quran Memorization and Religious Studies in Mina in the Southern Nouakchott region.

A graduation ceremony for 130 Quran memorizers was held in Mauritania on February 1, 2025.

A total of 130 boys and girls who have memorized the Quran at the center were honored for their achievement, Al-Akhabr website reported.

According to Aslak Walid Haida, an official with the center, the Mina region’s branch was established in 2015, and since then, 460 male and female Quran students have graduated, with more than 40 of them holding certifications.

Among the graduates, there are individuals who have been selected to teach groups of students enrolled in the center, he noted.

He emphasized the center’s keenness to teach the less-educated groups and pointed out that it has 273 classes for remote villages, from which more than 1,000 male and female memorizers of the Book of God have graduated, with over 370 of them teaching at the center.

Ali Yaslam, the center’s deputy described the opening of the branch in Mina in 2015 as a significant and challenging step.

He added that after a decade of effort, the center has greatly contributed to Mauritania through the training of teachers and Quran instructors.
