IQNA – During Ramadan, people tend to go to mosques more often, participate in communal prayers, and break their fasts together.

These collective activities not only strengthen social bonds but also enhance the spirit of cooperation and empathy.

Ramadan is an opportunity to foster social solidarity and strengthen human connections through shared experiences such as hunger, thirst, and worship.

One of the most significant impacts of fasting on society is the enhancement of empathy and mutual understanding. When individuals experience hunger and thirst throughout the day, they become better able to grasp the conditions of those in need and the poor. This shared experience encourages people to think more about helping others and to use their resources to address the needs of the community.

The Holy Quran says in Verse 267 of Surah Al-Baqarah, “Believers, spend for the cause of God from the good things that you earn and from what we have made the earth yield for you.”

This verse clearly emphasizes the importance of charity and helping others, showing that fasting can serve as a catalyst for enhancing generosity and empathy.

Ramadan is also an opportunity to strengthen social relationships and foster solidarity within the community. During this month, people visit mosques more often, participate in communal prayers, and break their fasts together. These collective activities not only reinforce social bonds but also boost the spirit of cooperation and compassion.

God says in Verse 103 of Surah Al Imran, “And hold fast to the Bond of Allah, together, and do not scatter.” This verse highlights the importance of unity and cohesion in society and shows that Ramadan can be an opportunity for Muslims to strengthen their unity.

In addition, fasting encourages individuals to be more considerate of others and to move away from selfishness and self-centeredness. This change in perspective can help create a more just and empathetic society.

God says in Verse 92 of Surah Al Imran, “You shall not attain righteousness until you spend of what you love.”

This verse indicates that achieving goodness and piety is only possible through helping others and empathizing with them.

Consequently, fasting during Ramadan is not only a personal act of worship but also a powerful tool for strengthening social cohesion and fostering a spirit of empathy within the community. By experiencing hunger and thirst, individuals become more aware of the needs of the less fortunate and use their resources to help others.

This month serves as an opportunity to build a united, compassionate, and just society where individuals care for one another and strive towards piety and goodness.

The Holy Quran indirectly highlights these positive impacts of fasting by emphasizing the importance of charity, unity, and empathy.
