Eight qaris made it to the finals of the contest, dubbed “Wa Rattil” (…and recite the Quran in a distinct tone- Verse 4 of Surah Al-Muzzammil).
The finalists are Saleh Daqaqeleh from Iran, Mahmoud Sayyid Abdullah from Egypt, Abdul Jabbar Shuaib from Morocco, Mohammad Sakhizadeh from Afghanistan, Rasoul Bakhshi from Iran, Ali Muhammad al-Zubaidi and Muhammad Zulaif Atiya from Iraq and Saeed al-Sayydi from Egypt.
Members of the panel of judges include SheikH Muhammad Ali Jabeen from Egypt, Seyed Halal Masoumi from Afghanistan, Daidar al-Kadhimi from Iraq and Seyed Mehdi Seif from Iran.
Ahmad Najaf, a Quran reciter and media activist, is the program’s host.
The competition, which will run through the end of Ramadan, is aired on Al-Thaqalayn satellite TV every night during the holy month.
According to the organizers, it is the first Quranic event in the Islamic world that focuses specifically on the Tarteel recitation of the Quran.

The competition featured over 200 participants from various countries in Asia, Africa, Europe, Latin America, and Southeast Asia in its first round this year.
Al-Thaqalayn is a satellite TV station broadcasting various programs with religious and cultural themes.
The Arabic-language TV, which was launched in Ramadan of 2008, aims to promote the Islamic culture and the teachings of the Holy Quran and Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS).
It also seeks to strengthen the institution of the Islamic family through special programs for women, children and young adults.
