3,500 Workers Maintain Cleanliness at Mecca Grand Mosque 24/7

IQNA – A dedicated workforce of 3,500 male and female workers operates around the clock to maintain cleanliness at Islam’s holiest site.

A full-scale cleaning operation is conducted at the Grand Mosque in Mecca in just 35 minutes, ensuring pilgrims can perform their rituals without disruption.

The workers are supported by 12 specialized washing machines and 679 advanced cleaning devices.

To manage waste efficiently, more than 3,000 containers are strategically placed inside and outside the Grand Mosque.

On a regular day, around 70 tons of waste are collected and removed, with this figure rising to 100 tons during peak seasons. All cleaning processes adhere to strict environmental safety standards.

The General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has emphasized its commitment to sustainability by using environmentally friendly cleaning materials and maintaining 24/7 operations without affecting the movement of worshippers.
