Israeli Crimes in Gaza: Over 300 Children Killed in Two Weeks as Death Toll Surpasses 50,000

In a statement released Tuesday, UNICEF stated that at least 322 children have lost their lives, and 609 others have been injured in the renewed Israeli bombardments and ground operations.

The agency highlighted that the casualties equate to an average of around 100 children killed or wounded each day over the past 10 days.

"Most of these children were displaced, sheltering in makeshift tents or damaged homes," the statement noted. It also referenced reports that some of the victims were among those killed or injured when an Israeli strike targeted the surgical department of Al Nasser Hospital in southern Gaza on March 23.

UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell underscored the devastating impact of the escalation, noting that the two-month ceasefire had offered Gaza’s children a brief respite and hope for recovery.

"But children have again been plunged into a cycle of deadly violence and deprivation," she said, calling on Israeli forces to fulfill their obligations under international humanitarian law to protect civilians, particularly children.
