IQNA – Iraq’s Kata’ib Hezbollah (Hezbollah Brigades) dismissed a report about disarming the country’s resistance groups.

A Reuters’ report citing a so-called Kata’ib Hezbollah commander on Monday is incorrect, the movement said, Al-Mayadeen reported.

“This report has no connection to our established principles and positions. Therefore, we emphasize that such statements have not been made by the media representatives of Kata’ib Hezbollah, as the positions of the group are exclusively announced by Muhammad Mohyi, the official spokesperson, or Sayyid Jaafar Al-Husseini, the military spokesperson. Any other claims fall under the category of falsehood and slander.”

It urged both domestic and international media to exercise utmost accuracy and integrity in their reporting and to obtain information from credible sources.

“We reserve the right to take legal action against media outlets that engage in misleading practices and disseminate unverified news not supported by official sources,” Kata’ib Hezbollah went on to say.

In its report, Reuters claimed that several resistance groups in Iraq are prepared to disarm for the first time to “avert the threat of an escalating conflict with the US Trump administration”.
